How can we help?
Everything you need to set up, grow, and troubleshoot your QROOT garden.
Getting started
What seeds work with QROOT?
Any small herb, leafy green, or compact vegetable seed works. Popular choices: basil, mint, coriander, lettuce, spinach, and cherry tomatoes. Avoid large-rooting plants like potatoes or carrots - they need soil depth.
Do I need to buy special nutrients?
Your QROOT comes with Nutrient A and Nutrient B bottles that last about 3 months. After that, any standard hydroponic nutrient solution (available online for ₹200–400) works. We recommend General Hydroponics Flora series.
How much electricity does it use?
About 18–24 watts depending on the model - roughly the same as a phone charger. The LED panel runs 16 hours per day on a built-in timer. Monthly cost: around ₹30–40.
Where should I place my QROOT?
Any indoor countertop or shelf with a power outlet nearby. It works in any room - no natural light needed. Avoid direct sunlight (causes algae), dusty areas, and spots near air conditioner vents.
Growing & maintenance
How often do I add water?
The reservoir holds enough for 3 weeks. You'll see a float indicator - refill when it drops below the minimum line. In hot weather or with large plants, you may need to top up every 2 weeks.
When do I harvest?
Most herbs and greens are ready in 21 days. Harvest when leaves reach 10–15 cm. Snip at the stem - don't uproot. Most plants regrow 3–5 times from a single planting.
How do I clean the garden?
Between plantings, rinse the baskets, wipe the reservoir with warm water, and run the pump with clean water for 10 minutes. Deep clean every 2–3 months. No soap needed - warm water does the job.
The pump sounds louder than usual. What do I do?
Usually means the water level is low and the pump is pulling air. Refill the reservoir first. If it persists, remove the pump, rinse off any mineral buildup, and reseat it. Still noisy? Contact us - we'll replace it under warranty.

Troubleshooting
My seeds aren't sprouting.
Check three things: (1) Are the sponges staying moist? The pump should be cycling water past the roots. (2) Are the dome caps on? They create humidity for germination. (3) Are the seeds fresh? Old seeds lose viability. If all three check out, give it 5–7 days - some herbs are slow starters.
The LED light isn't turning on.
Make sure the power adapter is fully plugged in on both ends. Try a different outlet. If the adapter works but the panel doesn't, the timer may need a reset - unplug for 30 seconds and plug back in. Still dark? Contact support for a replacement.
I see algae growing in the reservoir.
Algae grows when light reaches the water. Check that all unused ports have dome caps, and avoid placing the garden in direct sunlight. To clean: drain, wipe with warm water, rinse baskets, and refill with fresh nutrient solution.
My plants are growing leggy and thin.
They're stretching for light. Make sure the LED panel is at the right height - 10–15 cm above the tallest plant. On the Plus model, adjust the lamp arm. If you've moved the garden to a dark corner, the built-in light should be sufficient, but the panel must be on.
